AR‑Coated BG38 Blue Cut Glass for Cameras This BG38 blue glass IR-cut filter is fabricated using BG38 blue absorptive glass, with an optional anti-reflective (AR) coating available to minimize surface reflections. Colored glass filters achieve optical blocking through selective absorption rather than relying on multilayer interference effects, allowing the visible spectrum to pass while attenuating ultraviolet (UV) and near-infrared (near-IR) wavelengths. In color camera systems, silicon-based image sensors maintain sensitivity beyond the red end of the visible spectrum, extending to approximately 1100 nm. Without filtering, this sensitivity can lead to inaccurate color reproduction and reduced image contrast.
